Dreamweaver Days

Alright folks … this post is pure FanGirl … wherein I declare my love / addiction to Macromedia … w/ special attention to my Dreamweaver Days !! ;-D

The Backstory

I created my first website using MS FrontPage waaaay back in 1998. ;-D I then started working w/ Macromedia Dreamweaver in 2000 … wow !! I fell in love immediately, took great pride in working w/ a San Francisco-created tool ;-D … and eventually learned how to create database-driven sites, such as the 2009 year-end photo gallery in these screenshots:

Home-made splash page called backend table to display records using PHP script. I was starting to get savvy w/ CSS at this point and used these scripts a few times as training material for my more advanced Dreamweaver students. ;-D

PHP / MySQL

My wee gallery was a mash-up of CSS, HTML, image files … all woven into PHP scripts and integrated w/ MySQL … thanks to a great instructor (shout to to Chau-Uyen ;-D) and Dreamweaver, I must admit that these new skills made me feel pretty bad-ass !

Home-made “lightbox” to go w/ splash page. Dynamic links called backend table to read in captions. Buttons called PHP loop script.

Alas …

With the onset of social media, I know that peeps are now able to share images at a zillion miles an hour … but I still think it’s cool as all hell to understand rudimentary database machinations and how they tango w/ web code. Cheers to WebAssist for helping me get DreamWeaver to latch into MySQLi … I was on a volunteer db project in 2021 and couldn’t have pulled my tasks off without the purchase of your DW extension !! Finally … to conclude my Ode to Dreamweaver, I feel compelled to insert this … LOL !! ;-D
